Obituary of Gerald A Bouchard

Gerald A. "Butch" Bouchard, 91, of Brooklyn, CT, died Sunday, August 12, 2012 at Westview Nursing Home in Dayville, CT. He was born December 5, 1920 in New Bedford, MA, son of the late Joseph and Emma (Mainville) Bouchard. As a youngster he relocated to the Danielson area where he attended St. James School. Upon completion of his education he went into the CC Corps working in construction in Hampton, CT. He worked in the textile industry at Quinebaug Mills and P&A as a laborer. In 1942 he enlisted in the US Army, where he earned the European African Middle Eastern Theatre Ribbon with three Bronze Stars, A Presidential Unit Citation and A Purple Heart with one Oak Leaf Cluster. After Butch was honorably discharged in 1945 from the US Army as a Ranger Infantry, he worked at Larosa driving truck. He also worked driving truck at E.N. Curtis and Burgmeyer Trucking companies. Gerald retired in 1977. He was a member of the Danielson Elks 1706, a member of the Danielson VFW Post #2650, a member of the American Legion Post 21 and Butch was also a member of the Teamsters Local 493. He was a communicant of St. James Church. Butch really loved bowling and was a member of many Leagues. He leaves his sons Timothy and his wife Pamela Bouchard of Brooklyn, CT, Gregory and his wife Dawn Bouchard of Lisbon, CT, eight grandchildren, three great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a son Gary Bouchard, two brothers Adelarde Bouchard and Edward Bouchard and a sister Emma Quigley. Butch will be laid to rest at the Connecticut State Veterans' Cemetery in Middletown, CT at the family's convenience. To share a memory with the family "Light a Candle" at www.gagnonandcostellofh.com
