Obituary of Irene E. Provost

Dayville - Irene E. Provost, 85, of Attawaugan, died Sunday, February 24, 2013 at Westview Health Care Center. Beloved wife of the late Laurent Provost, they were married on September 27, 1947 and enjoyed 62 years together until his passing in 2009. Irene was born April 22, 1927 inPutnam,CT, daughter of the late Delphonse and Emily Bousquet. Irene was a communicant of St. Anne Church in Ballouville. She was a life member of the Daughters of Isabella. Irene was co-proprietor of Provost Market in Attawaugan, with her husband Laurent. She then worked at the Westview Health Care Center as a cook for over 20 years, always keeping the residents and staff content with her 'treats' until her retirement. She enjoyed all arts and crafts including painting, knitting, crocheting and going fishing with Larry. Irene's family would like to thank the entire staff atWestviewHealthCenterfor all the wonderful care and love they gave their mother. She leaves a daughter: Maryann Mercier and Christopher Bekris of Plainfield, CT and four sons: Alan Provost and his wife Patricia of West Haven, CT, Denis Provost and his wife Jeanne of Putnam, CT, Mark Provost and his wife Jane of Thompson, CT, Paul Provost and his wife Diane of Norwich, CT; grandchildren Justin, Christopher, Benjamin, Samantha, Megan, Elizabeth, Nicholas, Jessica, Daniel, Zackary, Amanda, and Kaitlyn, a great granddaughter Mia Emily-Joyce, a sister: Alice LeBlanc of VT and two brothers: Richard Bousquet of Leicester, MA, Delphis Bousquet and his wife Shirley of Enfield, CT; and nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her sister Yvonne McNally. The Funeral will be Friday, March 1, 2013 at 9:30 AM from the Smith and Walker Funeral Home, 148 Grove Street, Putnam, CT, followed by a Mass of Christian burial at 10:00 AM in St. James Church, 12 Franklin Street, Danielson, CT. Burial will be in St. Mary Cemetery, Putnam. Calling Hours will be Thursday from 5:00 to 8:00 PM at the Funeral Home.
