Obituary of Shirley E. Serafin

Shirley E. Serafin, 78, of Five Mile River Road, Putnam, died Thursday, November 5, 2009. She was the beloved wife of Peter T. Serafin, they were married in 1953. She was born January 9, 1931 in Putnam, daughter of the late Warren L. and Gladys O. (Farnham) Bradway. She had made her home in Putnam all her life a member of the Putnam Baptist Church, where she served the church as a Trustee, Council Member, Moderator. Shirley was a Registered Nurse, receiving her nursing degree in 1950 from the New England Deaconess Hospital and Simmons College in Boston and was a member of the Putnam High School, Class of 1948. She worked at Day Kimball Hospital and Matulaitis Nursing Home. She was a member of the DAR, Town of Putnam Board of Tax Assessment and Inland Wetlands. Shirley was a founding Director of the Board of Director of Putnam Baptist Homes -Littler River Acres. She leaves her husband of 56 years, a daughter, Deborah Lamiotte of Putnam, a brother, Warren L. Bradway of Vernon; grandchildren: Joshua Waterbury, Gregory Waterbury, Jonathan Lamiotte. The Funeral Service will be Saturday, November 7, 2009 at 2:00 PM at the Putnam Baptist Church, 170 Church Street, Putnam. No calling hours. Burial in Putnam Heights Cemetery.
