Obituary of Willard James Wilmot

Willard "Bill" James Wilmot, 74, of Pomfret, Connecticut passed away at Backus Hospital on January 15, 2014. Born January 22, 1939 in East Chicago, IN, son of Russell and Ellen (Edwardson) Wilmot. Bill embraced his family and friends with quiet generosity, a loving and accepting heart, and benevolent pragmatism. He is survived by his wife Linda S. (Robinson) Wilmot of Pomfret, CT, and sons Jeffrey Alexander of Philadelphia, PA, Ryan Alexander of Upton MA, Bill Wilmot of Hull, MA and Gregory Wilmot of Pomfret, CT. Bill served in the Navy and was a Director of International Sales and Marketing in the wire and cable industry, helping businesses grow into international markets. He had travelled the world, and was a gracious host and chef for visitors from across the globe. He loved the water, sailing, and spending time with his family. He was a member of First Congregational Church of Woodstock. He was above all a devoted husband, dad, and grandpa. There will be a memorial service on Saturday, January 25, 2014 at 2:00 PM at the First Congregational Church of Woodstock, 543 Route 169, Woodstock followed by burial at the Woodstock Hill Cemetery with military honors.
