Obituary of Marjorie Alice Robinson

Marjorie Alice (Dyson) Robinson, 79, of South Killingly died at home Friday, January 23, 2009. The daughter of the late Ernest and Maude (Martin) Dyson, she lived in Danielson most of her life. Educated in Killingly Schools, she was graduated from Killingly High School. Excelling in commercial studies, she went to work in her senior year at Jacobs Rubber, ultimately becoming executive secretary to J. Edgar Moe, manager of that division of Bullard Clark, Company. She was married to Lavius A. Robinson, Jr., MD. in 1954. She is survived by her husband, her children, and her grandchildren: Donald Woods and his son Robert of Alabama, Faith Robinson and Christopher Cape, her son Eduardo Cabrera of New Jersey; Mark Robinson, MD. and Karen and their sons Samuel and Benjamin of North Carolina; Jane and Robert Milne, their son Ian and daughter Alyssa of West Hartford; Joyce and Bruno Jugovic, their sons Daniel and Nicholas of Massachusetts. Her sister, Priscilla Dyson of Danielson, survives her. Her brother, David, predeceased her. She is also survived by several nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews and a few great great nieces and great great nephews. Dr. Robinson started practice in their home on Broad Street, and she served as his office assistant. She did the accounting and was paymaster until he retired. She had a keen mind and chose to be a professional mother over other career opportunities. She fed her severely handicapped grandson, Daniel, thru a gastric tube for a year. She was an early supporter of the Springtime Festival, and chaired the first queen pageant. She received the Springtime Festival Founders' Award in May 2000. Active in her churches, she enjoyed singing in the choir most of her life. She and her husband were advisers to St. Albans Youth Group for many years. A gifted Tole painter; she braided rugs, loved her herb garden, but above all was an expert quilter. When the children were grown, she had long evenings while her husband was at the office. Her many crafts testify that she did not waste time. A lady thru and thru, quiet and self- effacing, she bore her long decline into twilight patiently, and now, praise be to God, she is at peace. Marjorie loved flowers, and her family gave her many through out her life when she could enjoy them. In lieu of flowers, those who wish may make a donation in her name to the Killingly High School Library Book Fund, ATTN: Christine Clarke, 369 Main Street, Danielson, CT 06239. A Celebration of Life Service will be Saturday, January 31, 2009 at 10:30 AM in St. Albans Episcopal Church, 254 Broad Street, Danielson, CT. There are no calling hours. Committal will be private.
